The Meat Barn’s chicken is predominantly sourced from Hazeldene’s, a family-owned company in Lockwood (just out of Bendigo). Hazeldene’s has been operating for 60 years and pioneered RSPCA approved chicken in 2011. Hazeldene’s products are free range, RSPCA approved and recognised for their quality.

Chicken breasts are one of the most versatile cuts of meat you can find. They can be oven roasted, pan fried, poached or grilled and work well with marinades and spice rubs. Your imagination is the only limit.
Sliced thinly, chicken breasts can be crumbed and turned into schnitzels - or look for ready made chicken schnitzels in store. Chop chicken breasts into even pieces and thread onto kebab sticks for a family favourite. Diced chicken breasts are great for stir frying, pan frying and mixed through pasta or risotto, or shredded and mixed through salads. They can be poached and shredded in soups and make a delicious and hearty pie filling.
Chicken pieces - legs, wings and thighs - can be glazed and grilled. Sticky little fingers love these cuts and they're simple and quick to make. We have a huge range of ready marinated cuts in store for you to try.
Our favourite is the humble roast chicken. Stuffed with a traditional breadcrumb stuffing, or simply filled with lemons for a delicious light flavour, a simple roast is an economical meal that will please the whole family.
